Why did you select CHASS?

The world is becoming smaller and smaller, and in CHASS, we learn about different cultures. This helps us to see how societies can better communicate with each other. CHASS is also very flexible; there is an opportunity to take a range of courses that interest you.

What has been your favorite course so far?

I really enjoyed International Relations with Dr. Griffin. We had in-depth discussions about ethical and topical issues, and analyzed how countries as a whole communicate. Political Science and History courses teach you that social groups can learn from their mistakes. the faculty here are crucial in helping you decided what to do with your major, simply based on the fact that they teach so well and help you consider so many points of view.

What advice would you give to incoming students?

I was challenged by the transition from a small town, where I would know three generations of many families, to a place where I am surrounded by people I don’t know on a daily basis. I would suggest getting involved on campus – explore and try something you are not good at or don’t know much about.
