At the WHO, Alum Aims to Remove Barriers Across the Globe

After discovering a passion for international relations, diplomacy and development at NC State, alumna Lianne Gonsalves entered the real world looking for a way to put it all together. And she has. Working as a technical officer at the World Health Organization, Gonsalves studies how to better connect young people with information and services related to their sexual and reproductive health.

Student Combines Philanthropy, Sustainability for Campus Impact

Nearly 3,000 miles from his home in Orinda, Calif., business and international studies double-major Sam Shain is making unique contributions to a university culture of philanthropy. As the first-ever director of student philanthropy within Student Government’s Executive Board, he’s helping educate students about the importance of giving back in order to boost the university’s long-term sustainability.

Study Abroad Inspires Global Pursuits

For NC State alumna Megan (McNulty) Le, study abroad was the catalyst for a global career and the lifelong pursuit of international experiences. As an Alexander Hamilton Scholar, Le studied Business Management and Latin American Studies while minoring in Spanish, earning her dual degrees from Poole College of Management and the College of Humanities and Social Sciences in 2002. A study abroad program in Costa Rica during the summer of 2001 sparked a desire in her to do something different and expand her worldview.
